Below are instructions on how to create graphics to use with your own VisualLoyalty program:

Card Design Checklist

In designing a card, please keep the following in mind:
Credit card size is 54mm x 85.6mm
Keep all copy at least 3mm away for cards edges unless the copy bleeds.
If design has bleeds, please make sure to extend the bleed at least 3mm over the cards edges.
Heavy solid areas sometimes require a second colour layer to give good ink density so there may be an increase in cost to cover this once the artwork is received.
Overall text should not be smaller than 6 point.
If text knocks out or registers to another color, text should not be smaller than 7 point.

Pre-Press Checklist

Artwork should be set up in CMYK, PMS Colors, or Grayscale.
Do not use RGB. If your artwork prints in spot colors, delete any colors off of the color palette that do not apply to the current artwork.
Any photo or image with highlights and/or shadows should be scanned at 300 dpi.
Any line art illustrations should be scanned at 1200 dpi.
Any TIFF picture boxes in QuarkXpress should have a background fill other than "None".
Include all associated graphic files, screen and printer fonts.
If saving a file as an EPS, please either convert text to "Outlines" or be sure to include all screen and printer fonts.

Pre-Press Don't's

Do not use menu styling on fonts.
Do not rotate, scale, or skew imported images in page layout programs.
Rotating etc should be done in the original program.
Do not include unnecessary files on your final output disk.

Supported Programs

We can work with all the major graphics programs on the market, but if you have familiarity with multiple applications, we prefer the following:

Generally, artwork is printed from Mac platforms, so Mac files are preferred, however PC based artwork is fully acceptable.

*PhotoShop is good for photographs, and may be acceptable, but call for special instructions.

File Save Format

Always use the native format for DTP and Office files. In other words, Do NOT export the file; simply save the file in its normal format. Ideally, we will open your file with the same software you used to create it. Whenever possible, link image files instead of embedding them. Include those separate image files in their original format when you send your art files.

Only CAD and home graphics designs should be exported to one or all of the following formats:

Depending on the simplicity of the art the non-native formats may work just fine, however, it is always worthwhile to send as many types as possible. Again this is not necessary for DTP and Office applications.

Card Front Dimension & Notes

The artwork on the front of the card can cover the entire card surface. The drawing below shows the card size and positioning of the rewritable area within the card. All dimensions are shown in mm.

Card Back Dimension & Notes

The artwork on the back of the card can cover the entire card surface with the exception of the area where the magnetic encoding head touches the card. The drawing below shows the positioning of the magnetic encoding area to be avoided. All dimensions are shown in mm.
